Very nice unit with plenty of power.

I bought this unit to do some auto body panel replacement welding. I already have a 220 volt mig that I have used for over 10 years. It has a hard time with light welding tasks like sheetmetal. I figured this unit would be good for small welding tasks and is a good brand name in the welding world. The unit came well packed. I was not happy that the gas regulator did not have a gauge, thus making it hard to know when you were near the end of your bottle. I did end up adding a gauge since this would drive me nuts. The reason I am giving it full stars is based on its performance. It really surprised me to its ability to weld thicker material and still run on just 110 power. I love that I can plug it in anywhere and weld away on just about any size material with ease. And as predicted, it does dial down to be very good with 18 gauge sheetmetal. I wish it had a infinite dial for power output but I am able to find one of the 4 settings that will work for the job at hand. I have plugged into... 5/5 hankbear - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Lincoln Electric K2185-1 MIG Welder

Was looking for a decent, cheap MIG welder two years ago, searched the web and found this for $267.18, delivered, Fed EX, 2 day delivery. Jumped at this price and got it in two days. I have had a Lincoln 235 Amp AC welder for about 40 Years (bought it new for $79.00 retail at Farm & Fleet) and have welded more things than I can remember. It is still going strong, so I knew I was going with a good brand name. A few months later, I bought a Argon/CO2 tank to go with it. It sat in my shop until just recently, (We moved here in 2010 and it took a while to get the shop built and arranged the way it should be) when I bought a cart for the welder. Well, I just used it about a week ago. This thing is fantastic! It is the easiest welder I have ever used. I built a cart for my OXY/Acetylene set, out of 1" square steel tubing, all miter cuts. The fact that you can see exactly where the weld is immediately, is great, no chipping off slag to see the results. Cost-effective Emergency Power

I bought this generator in preparation for hurricane Irene. Ordered it on Wen., it arrived on Fri., just in time to set it up before the storm (can't beat Amazon Prime!). The generator was easy to set up and started in one pull. This generator provided power sufficient to run the refrigerator, a mini-split a/c unit, TV, and a couple of fluorescent lights for two days. Under this load, a full tank (4 gallons) lasted around 12-14 hours. This unit appears to be a Chinese import so I do have my doubts about long-term reliability, never the less, the DS4000 appears surprisingly well-constructed and capable for the price.Pros:InexpensiveEasy to OperateRelatively Quiet (compared to a 22" lawn mower)CompactEasy to read fuel gaugeCons:Recommended oil change interval of 20 hours (change the oil every other time you fill the gas tank?)Oil drain obscured by frame below (as oil drains it runs along the frame and makes a mess)... 4/5 H. Zelizer (Wading River, NY United States) - See all my reviews, August 30, 2011

Great unit for a great price!

I ordered this generator after the last season of hurricanes and storms in Northeast USA. My house is in a flood prone area and I wasn't going to go through another entire hurricane season with sleepless nights. My old generator stopped working last year so I knew I was in the market for a new one.I paid $299 for this generator off of Amazon and another $39 for the wheel kit (DuroStar DS4000S-WK Wheel Kit for DS4000S). As of writing this review, the generator is down to $289.00. Either way, I would have paid $350 for this unit! The packaging was great. There was no damage to the unit during shipping. My biggest complaint about packaging is that some oil seemed to seep out of the unit and onto the box so I had to be careful when opening it up. I ended up having to wipe the units frame down with a rag to dry it off. The unit does not ship with oil, but someone must have put oil in it at one point to test it out because there was a lot of oil in the box... 5/5 Trevor Mankus (Hatboro, PA United States) - See all my reviews, June 5, 2012

Help for first time users of generators

I purchased this generator right after hurricane Irene. After hurricane Irene had damaged power lines in my neighborhood and being without power for 4 days I relied on my car battery to power lamps in my home using a power converter which included battery clamps. I decided to buy a generator as using a car battery during power outages can only go so far. Enter hurricane Sandy, I lost power again for 7 days where my new generator came into play to be used for the first time. I never operated or owned a generator before so I thought listing my experience here on Amazon in detail will help others like me.This generator came with two open end wrenches, a screwdriver and a spark plug wrench. Once you open the box you will see that there is a block of wood inserted in the engine and tied down with a nylon strap. It also has a metal shipping brace attached to the bottom of the frame of the generator. These will have to be removed before you can use the generator. 90 Amp Wire Feed Mig Welder

0 5/5 Kevin - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: 90 Amp 120v Wire Feed Portable Mig Welder Non Gas Welding Fabrication Welding Set This is a fine welder for the price. Have done a few different jobs with it and it has held up well. The only drawback I had was to remove the tension spring on the wire spool to get the wire to feed freely. This is my first wire feed unit and with a little practice I was laying down a good smooth bead in no time flat. I have repaired a job box lid and installed a new exhaust system on my son's Cherokee truck without any overheating issues. The included plastic handheld style face shield came in useful when I hit a tight spot were my helmet would not fit. The tip does get dirty so you might plan on using an anti splatter nozzle gel and get a tip cleaning kit if you don't have one handy. The unit was packaged well and arrived in good condition. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , November 23, 2012

GREAT for what i paid for it

0 5/5 Darren - See all my reviews This review is from: 90 Amp 120v Wire Feed Portable Mig Welder Non Gas Welding Fabrication Welding Set GREAT product for the price. But a word to the wise, IMMEDIATELY junk the wire it came with, and go buy Lincoln 0.035" flux core wire, and tips. GREAT clean welds, GREAT penetration (not as good as a $2500 machine, but still impressive) but as I said, junk the stock wire and this machine is great. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , October 18, 2013

I love to deal hunt on amazon, sometimes I get great buys sometimes I get burnt. this will fall under my burnt category. So I consider myself more than handy, but having a hard time with this one. worked for the first couple uses, then a screeching and squealing sound plus no worky, so I proceeded to tear apart slowly. Wire was push inside the machine, a lot of it. so I cleared this jam tried again, the wheel that runs the cable through was not strong enough or I had a jam in my line. went with jam first, manually pushing the wire it continually got hung up about a foot or two in, so I cut the guide cable stuffed the power cables further in, not fixed. so this time I opened the cable drive gear box. Little kiddy plastic gears, but non were striped one was wobbly in its holder, little jb weld, all back together....pow worked great....for two jobs then click click squeal squeal . I just tried a new cable little bigger and back to normal length, nothing. going back in tomorrow to look at... 2/5 Eric - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great little welder!

0 5/5 Carey Netherton - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Pro-Grade Ultra-Portable 100-Amp Electric Arc Welder - 110V (Misc.) I am a metal sculptor with twenty years of experience welding. I recently bought one of these machines on a whim. I needed a cheap way to weld parts together quickly. I did not know what to expect, but thought it worth a try. Without a doubt it was a great investment. I have used the unit quite a bit and have found it to be a real trooper. The one weakness I have found is that it has a short duty cycle. If I want to run a 2 foot long bead, where I am constantly going (at about 60amps) and burning through sticks, it will put itself in cooldown mode after about a foot. But I am cool with that and now know what it can and can't do. Just weld a bit and then step away for 5 mins. I really like the variable amp adjustment a lot- I can really fine tune things in to the way I want.A great addition to my studio without a doubt. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , May 18, 2011

    Nice little machine

0 4/5 JB - See all my reviews This review is from: Campbell Hausfeld WF2150 Flux Core Wire Feed Welder (Tools & Home Improvement) I purchased a Speedway welder earlier and it turned out to be lousy - perhaps a good boat anchor but not much else. The CH 2150 worked perfectly out of the box. I did a good bit of reading up front and took the advice in the guide to first practice on some scrap pieces. I found the wire feed and trigger to be "touchy" and it took a bit of work to get anywhere near consistent running a bead but after about 30 minutes my confidence grew and I leaped into my project. My chore was the re-attachment of a wheel on my portable generator. Let's say my work will not win a prize at the fare for overall appearance but the wheel is re-attached and is not likely to be come dislodged at least not at the weld site. I may eventually trade up but for now the 2150 is all I need. From a novice to a novice invest in a helmet with a self darkening lens - it will make life a bit easier and may prevent you from getting an arc burn in your eyes. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 26, 2011

    Very nice small welder

0 4/5 Mark Twain - See all my reviews This review is from: Campbell Hausfeld WF2150 Flux Core Wire Feed Welder (Tools & Home Improvement) I bought this as a complement to my large AC/DC stick welder and have been very impressed with it. Since I got this I haven't used the stick welder at all since I haven't had to weld anything heavier than 1/4". So far I've gone through a couple of pounds of wire. With all of these small machines, cut off the cheap, almost useless ground clamp and install a proper welding clamp (they're not expensive). Also, make SURE to not run over heat #3 unless you KNOW you have a 20 Amp outlet on a 20 Amp circuit. Any extension cord should be #10 or #12, I wouldn't use anything as small as the #14 listed in the manual.Ran mine on a 15A outlet with a 25 foot #12 extension cord yesterday for quite a bit of welding on heat #3 and the cord and plug didn't even get warm. This is a true DC welder unlike the $99 ones you will find. Between that and the quality of the parts used it's well worth the extra money. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 11, 2012

WOW - wish I had purchased one long ago!

My only hesitation in giving this item a rating of 5 stars is that I am such a novice at arc welding that I may not be qualified to give such a high rating to any welder.Prior to purchasing this welder my only experience with arc welding was a brief introduction to stick welding I got as part of a Junior High School shop class back in the late 1950s. I still have vivid memories of how hard it was to try to start an arc and keep it going while also having to flip the helmet down at the same time. Those memories were enough to keep me from even considering the purchase of an arc welder until the morning I got the wild idea to order this welder and an auto darkening helmet.WOW, what a difference using this is from memories of trying to learn to stick weld in Junior High School! After only a few practice welds I was able to create functional welds for use in various projects around my home.
