    Excellent machine!

First off, I did not purchase this welder at amazon. I picked this up at my local Lowe's. Same machine. The welder itself is built very well, and it goes for a long time before having to cool down. It is also very small and portable; you can take it just about anywhere you want. For perspective, you could even take it on a carry-on bag on an airplane, it's that small. It is very rugged with its steel case. The only problem is that you can only produce so much current from a standard household outlet! Professional welding shops often have their own power generators and/or custom-wiring to their building. Because of this, it is critical that the work piece is as clean as possible-to get a steady current flow. When the work piece is clean, the amps are set right, the correct welding rod is used, and you have had enough practice unless you have already learned to weld like I had before I bought this, it produces surprisingly pretty welds for such a small machine. It did a really good job... 5/5 Lil' Johnny - See all my reviews This review is from: Campbell Hausfeld WS0990 115-Volt Stick Welder (Tools & Home Improvement) First off, I did not purchase this welder at amazon. Welder Amazing

First welding is art and skill, both generally need practice.I have 20 amp breakers, 12gauge wiring and outlets rated for 20 amps. Check it all 4 times. i use a 12 gauge extention cord the coord on the welder is short and the leads aren't any longer. that being said, i spent hours working on high running about 2 lbs of rod, and no heat from the welder cord or extention cord. This and a 12 gauge extention cord makes a really compact welder that can get out and be used, the weight is about 20lbs, easy one handed. it's smaller and lighter than the tool box i lug around the house, so portablilty is excelent i regularly use it in the yard, driveway, garage. my lights and welder are on the same circuit, no issues so more or less the "high" setting is probly using around 15 amps, and the low less then 10. don't be afraid of having other things on the circuit.Get some 6013, and practice that on low, don't touch high. then when you can strike an arc consistantly gets... 5/5 James Stallings "Hacker and tinker" (Virginia) - See all my reviews, February 19, 2013

    I HAVE NEVER WELD BEFORE

0 5/5 NOTAWELDER - See all my reviews This review is from: Campbell Hausfeld WS0990 115-Volt Stick Welder (Tools & Home Improvement) I had mt atv plow rip apart on me last year. Figured the 100 would be a good try to save 300 for a new blade. I agree with the others, the sticks it came with would not strike 50% of the time. Frustrated I went to Youtube. After a 10 minutes of browsing I tried it again with the rods I bought ( 1/16 6013 )Welds were horrible, to start. 30 min later they were better. An hour later they resembled actual welds. Day 2 was better, I was able to take some 1/8 inch steel and weld it onto the back and sturdy it up.OverallI bought new Rods and a better maskPRACTICE!!! Two days and I am confident with throwing a couple pieces together and am sure it will hold.FAR BETTER THAN A NEW PLOW BLADE 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , October 26, 2013

    Great little welder!

0 5/5 Carey Netherton - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Pro-Grade Ultra-Portable 100-Amp Electric Arc Welder - 110V (Misc.) I am a metal sculptor with twenty years of experience welding. I recently bought one of these machines on a whim. I needed a cheap way to weld parts together quickly. I did not know what to expect, but thought it worth a try. Without a doubt it was a great investment. I have used the unit quite a bit and have found it to be a real trooper. The one weakness I have found is that it has a short duty cycle. If I want to run a 2 foot long bead, where I am constantly going (at about 60amps) and burning through sticks, it will put itself in cooldown mode after about a foot. But I am cool with that and now know what it can and can't do. Just weld a bit and then step away for 5 mins. I really like the variable amp adjustment a lot- I can really fine tune things in to the way I want.A great addition to my studio without a doubt. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , May 18, 2011

Very nice unit with plenty of power.

I bought this unit to do some auto body panel replacement welding. I already have a 220 volt mig that I have used for over 10 years. It has a hard time with light welding tasks like sheetmetal. I figured this unit would be good for small welding tasks and is a good brand name in the welding world. The unit came well packed. I was not happy that the gas regulator did not have a gauge, thus making it hard to know when you were near the end of your bottle. I did end up adding a gauge since this would drive me nuts. The reason I am giving it full stars is based on its performance. It really surprised me to its ability to weld thicker material and still run on just 110 power. I love that I can plug it in anywhere and weld away on just about any size material with ease. And as predicted, it does dial down to be very good with 18 gauge sheetmetal. I wish it had a infinite dial for power output but I am able to find one of the 4 settings that will work for the job at hand. I have plugged into... 5/5 hankbear - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Lincoln Electric K2185-1 MIG Welder

Was looking for a decent, cheap MIG welder two years ago, searched the web and found this for $267.18, delivered, Fed EX, 2 day delivery. Jumped at this price and got it in two days. I have had a Lincoln 235 Amp AC welder for about 40 Years (bought it new for $79.00 retail at Farm & Fleet) and have welded more things than I can remember. It is still going strong, so I knew I was going with a good brand name. A few months later, I bought a Argon/CO2 tank to go with it. It sat in my shop until just recently, (We moved here in 2010 and it took a while to get the shop built and arranged the way it should be) when I bought a cart for the welder. Well, I just used it about a week ago. This thing is fantastic! It is the easiest welder I have ever used. I built a cart for my OXY/Acetylene set, out of 1" square steel tubing, all miter cuts. The fact that you can see exactly where the weld is immediately, is great, no chipping off slag to see the results. I was using a 15... 5/5 Herb Petersen - See all my reviews This review is from: Lincoln Electric K2185-1 Handy MIG Welder (Tools & Home Improvement) Was looking for a decent, cheap MIG welder two years ago, searched the web and found this for $267.18, delivered, Fed EX, 2 day delivery. Quality you see when you open the box

I have been in the welding business for 40 years. When my wife told me she wanted a welder for her birthday and wanted me to teach her how to weld for her arts and crafts I had to decide one thing. What kind of machine would be best for a beginner ? I started looking at cheap Chinese welders and my experience told me they are not built to last. They have crummy rollers that won't hold up, they will make your weld wire look like a birds nest. Then I looked at their duty cycle. This is the amount of time your machine can run without resting to cool down. (I told you I have done this for 40 years) The cheap machines all max out at about 10%. You all know that means if you want to spend an hour welding, your machine is shut down 54 minutes in that hour to cool down. I know Mama is not going to be welding one straight hour, you have to do more prep work in welding than actual weld time and that lets your machine cool down and be ready when you are. This machine has a 20% duty cycle and... 5/5 Machine Gun Joe - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Good MIG welder!

I picked up an Everlast Power IMIG 200 and hear are my impressions. I am not new to MIG welding. Ive been MIG welding for more than 15 years. I needed to weld up some heavy racking and custom trailers for my bikes and ATVs. I picked out the Power IMIG 200 ordered it and it arrived a few days later.I can't say enough about the controls. It has a burn back setting that burns the wire just enough after I let go of the trigger so that the stick out is perfect for the start of the next beed. The feed and voltage controls allow infinite adjustment so that I can get the perfect setting. This thing allows me to put down beeds better than I have ever done. Even on only CO2 I can adjust the settings to get a really clean weld with very little splatter. The inductance control is fantastic and I can dial in more dig or have buttery beeds. This welder is spool gun ready and I picked one up with my order. Wroks great. Stout Welder!

0 5/5 smurphy - See all my reviews I have owned my Power Mig 200 for several months now. I love that it's dual voltage, and very efficient inverter technology. I use this welder around the house on 110v and 220v. I also carry this welder to jobs and run off my generator. I made a pigtail for 220v connection, and wired the welder in 110v. Adjustable arc force is nice when stick welding! You can also use a scratch start tig setup although not ideal it will work. I would highly recommend this welder and since its dual voltage it will give you options for use. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 22, 2011

Good Quality, though obviously Chinese construction

I bought this to upgrade a 135A MIG that had a plastic wire feed assembly that always gave problems, so was quite impressed with quality of Alloy design in the iMIG.A refinement missing in all these low cost units is a knurled wire feed roller, however, so positive feed can be a problem with some wire.It was important that I be able to run from 115VAC, and not so important to be able to use this unit for scratch TIG, though the 160A stick welder capability is great for welding repair on my farm implements (1/4" plate steel). The MTS line didn't meet this criteria..Electronics are excellent, as is the wire feed assembly, but sheet metal enclosure is weak. If damaged in transit (as mine was) there is a bit of repair necessary because the case is not very rigid. A plastic retention nut on primary power was knocked off, the fibre collet to align the MIG gun plug was knocked off, wire access panel was knocked out of alignment (i.e. wouldn't close properly). This was... 4/5 Robert A. Sutherland - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?)
