Very nice unit with plenty of power.

I bought this unit to do some auto body panel replacement welding. I already have a 220 volt mig that I have used for over 10 years. It has a hard time with light welding tasks like sheetmetal. I figured this unit would be good for small welding tasks and is a good brand name in the welding world. The unit came well packed. I was not happy that the gas regulator did not have a gauge, thus making it hard to know when you were near the end of your bottle. I did end up adding a gauge since this would drive me nuts. The reason I am giving it full stars is based on its performance. It really surprised me to its ability to weld thicker material and still run on just 110 power. I love that I can plug it in anywhere and weld away on just about any size material with ease. And as predicted, it does dial down to be very good with 18 gauge sheetmetal. I wish it had a infinite dial for power output but I am able to find one of the 4 settings that will work for the job at hand. I have plugged into... 5/5 hankbear - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Lincoln Electric K2185-1 MIG Welder

Was looking for a decent, cheap MIG welder two years ago, searched the web and found this for $267.18, delivered, Fed EX, 2 day delivery. Jumped at this price and got it in two days. I have had a Lincoln 235 Amp AC welder for about 40 Years (bought it new for $79.00 retail at Farm & Fleet) and have welded more things than I can remember. It is still going strong, so I knew I was going with a good brand name. A few months later, I bought a Argon/CO2 tank to go with it. It sat in my shop until just recently, (We moved here in 2010 and it took a while to get the shop built and arranged the way it should be) when I bought a cart for the welder. Well, I just used it about a week ago. This thing is fantastic! It is the easiest welder I have ever used. I built a cart for my OXY/Acetylene set, out of 1" square steel tubing, all miter cuts. The fact that you can see exactly where the weld is immediately, is great, no chipping off slag to see the results. First I bought a Hobart, then I bought a Lincoln Electric

A trusted friend of mine got me into MIG welding. He told me to get the Lincoln Electric (LE) and told me not to bother shopping around, that he had already done that and realized LE was the best. I didn't listen to him and I tried to save a few bucks... I got the Hobart 130. The Hobart is a decent machine with a terrible wire feeder. The Hobarts are known for their feeder issues, they use a slightly different system than LE. The result was blotchy welds with tons of splatter, due to the Hobart not feeding consistently. In the middle of a project, the feeder motor malfunctioned beyond repair, and I drove to Home Depot and bought this exact model (for $524).The LE was about the same to set up, but the LE wire feeder is easier to load than the Hobart. Don't let go of the wire spool until the wire is in the feeder and the gear is locked down, holding it in position. The grounding clamp on the LE will grip larger objects. After completing a small project, I'm amazed at how... 5/5 J. Pappan (Northern California) - See all my reviews, July 6, 2014

Can't believe I waited this long to buy one. First time welder and I completely restored a 6 * 10 trailer with 1/4 inch frame to steel grate decking. This unit is amazing. Got 0.030 flux core (have to use the 0.025 wheel feed size, 0.035 won't feed the wire), speed at 3 and B volt for smaller grate to frame welding, speed at 3 and C volt for thicker framing reinforcement. Get the mig tip gel and dip the whole brass tip every so often. Home Depot $524 and locally is easier to deal with issues. TIP: good luck getting the wire into the machine. It flies off that reel if you don't keep tension on it. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , May 11, 2014

This review is from: Century 80GL Flux Cored Wire Feed Welder, 70 amps, 115V AC (Pack of 1) (Tools & Home Improvement) I didn't have a chance to try this welder until 3 months after purchase. It has not produced a bead even ONCE. My work pieces were clean, clamped securely, 20 Amp outlet power. Called the local Lincoln service: They claim it's not really a Lincoln, want nothing to do with it. Some guy servicing Century equipment reluctantly agreed to let me bring the thing in.I called Amazon and they sent me a mailing label to return the unit. I am ordering a different welder now. Thanks Amazon, for making it right. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 8, 2011

90 Amp Wire Feed Mig Welder

0 5/5 Kevin - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: 90 Amp 120v Wire Feed Portable Mig Welder Non Gas Welding Fabrication Welding Set This is a fine welder for the price. Have done a few different jobs with it and it has held up well. The only drawback I had was to remove the tension spring on the wire spool to get the wire to feed freely. This is my first wire feed unit and with a little practice I was laying down a good smooth bead in no time flat. I have repaired a job box lid and installed a new exhaust system on my son's Cherokee truck without any overheating issues. The included plastic handheld style face shield came in useful when I hit a tight spot were my helmet would not fit. The tip does get dirty so you might plan on using an anti splatter nozzle gel and get a tip cleaning kit if you don't have one handy. The unit was packaged well and arrived in good condition. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , November 23, 2012

0 5/5 Darren - See all my reviews This review is from: 90 Amp 120v Wire Feed Portable Mig Welder Non Gas Welding Fabrication Welding Set GREAT product for the price. But a word to the wise, IMMEDIATELY junk the wire it came with, and go buy Lincoln 0.035" flux core wire, and tips. GREAT clean welds, GREAT penetration (not as good as a $2500 machine, but still impressive) but as I said, junk the stock wire and this machine is great. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , October 18, 2013

Best in its class! Very versatile welder.

I wanted a welder to improve and compliment the capabilities on the farm. Repairs and fabrication on many different things. Been using a Miller Bobcat stick welder for the past 20+ years. Heavily researched for the best machine to meet my needs. The Millermatic 211 is so easy to use, fast, smooth and clean. Using gas shielding solid wire. Autoset feature works well and I am amazed at the quality of the welds on thin, thin to thick and thick welds with little prep work. Have welded rusty sheet metal I would have thought been impossible. Great home/shop/farm welder. MIG gun is only 10' but is easily portable so not an issue yet. It's not the welder I would pick to build a bridge across the Tennessee river, but big enough for some serious structural welding. Might need a longer gun at some point. I have purchased the spoolgun and extra argon cylinder for aluminum. The gas cylinders, cart, consumables and accessories cost almost as much as the welder and found the best deal at a local... 5/5 R. McMahon (Knoxville TN) - See all my reviews, February 2, 2011

Awesome rig for beginner or pro!

I have used several cheap wire feeds in the past with absolutely zero luck. I went the cheap route on two others, always in a pinch when I needed a tack weld or a little repair. Needless to say, I was less than impressed with my welding ability - every project looked like it had been dropped on transformer lugs from 8o feet. Burned, crooked...nasty.Ahh, now I've purchased the Miller. I had heard nothing but good reviews on the 211, so I ponied up the cash and purchased one for several projects - a trailer and a rototiller that I'm restoring. I was absolutely STUNNED at the ease and quality of this process. The welds are clean, professional-looking, and most of all, EASY! I'm NOT A WELDER, and this 211 made me look like one.I tested some pieces, and thought, "I'll be damned. That looks NICE!" but assumed it was beginner's luck. I simply dialed in the material thickness and pulled the trigger. That was it. Nothing to it. All the test pieces held up very well to... 5/5 N. Conner - See all my reviews, May 10, 2012
