About this book
Today, with a bit of investment and practice, farmers can safely and efficiently make their own repairs to metal equipment and structures. Farm Welding begins with chapters on setting up a home shop specifically for farm-welding needs, as well as welding safety and the different welding processes. While the book is largely devoted to oxyacetylene gas and arc welding, the methods most often used for heavy-duty repairs and fabrication on the farm, wire-feed MIG welding for soft metals is also covered.

    Great little welder!

0 5/5 Carey Netherton - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Pro-Grade Ultra-Portable 100-Amp Electric Arc Welder - 110V (Misc.) I am a metal sculptor with twenty years of experience welding. I recently bought one of these machines on a whim. I needed a cheap way to weld parts together quickly. I did not know what to expect, but thought it worth a try. Without a doubt it was a great investment. I have used the unit quite a bit and have found it to be a real trooper. The one weakness I have found is that it has a short duty cycle. If I want to run a 2 foot long bead, where I am constantly going (at about 60amps) and burning through sticks, it will put itself in cooldown mode after about a foot. But I am cool with that and now know what it can and can't do. Just weld a bit and then step away for 5 mins. I really like the variable amp adjustment a lot- I can really fine tune things in to the way I want.A great addition to my studio without a doubt. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , May 18, 2011

Longevity Weldstick 140 DC Arc Welder

I bought this welder in July,2013. It was delivered on schedule and I used it for a few hours, worked fine. In the middle of Sept. I went to use it and the controls would not hold. The amp adjustment knob would say 70 and the read out was 50 and stayed 20 amps off when turned. I set it on 70 on the read out but it was more like 100amp finally got it to weld a smooth bead at 30 amps read out using a 3/32 7018. The second rod I had to set the control at 50 to start then stop and turn it down again.A few warnings if thinking about buying any Longevity Welder thru Amazone because they reduce the warranty from 5 yrs to one year. You pay shipping both ways which from North Carolina amounted to $120. They are not responsible if the item is lost either. The other thing is you can not register it to Longevity without asking them for a ID number because the invoice you receive from Amazone will not show up on their records. So for a 220 dollar welder used 2 times I will have to either fix... 1/5 Amazon Customer - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Unit arrived early and in goiod shape. The sticks it came with does splatter a lot as mentioned in prevous ratings. I never held a welder so I do not know the difference but I will say this welder is very easy to use. I am watching a lot of videos for tips on youtube. It works but... how do I adjust it?

So between ChuckE2009 and weldingTipsAndTricks on youtube, I've managed to finagle my way into the world of welding. I received this welder for Christmas thinking it would be exactly what I'm looking for but after more research there are a couple things about this welder to note:1) Cables (ground, electrode clamp) are not removable/replaceable/extendable. This doesn't seem like a big deal to me now as I've only tackled two small projects and practiced a ton but I can see how this might be an issue in the near future if I plan some bigger projects.2) No amperage indicator or adjustment. This is already a big deal. Without having adjustable amperage, it's hard to determine if the box is running too hot or too cold. The experienced welder can probably tell by looking at the welds but to a beginner, it's impossible to know without being able to change the amperage to experiment and find out. Those things being said, there are plenty of positives about... 4/5 r3t1awr3yd - See all my reviews This review is from: Century AC-120 Stick Welder, 50-90 amp Output, 120V Input (Misc.) Great welder, amp readings took a bit to get used to.

I unloaded an old Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC welder for this. I was glad to see the boat anchor go. This machine is so much lighter, strikes an arc easier, and has a smoother arc. I have welded with 6011, 7014, and 7018 rods so far. The display seems a little "hot" for the amperages I am used to, however the company says this is normal for an inverter with adaptive arc force. For example, I am running 1/8" 7018 rods at about 85-90 amps, whereas I used to run them at about 120 on my old machine. I haven't tried 6010 rods yet, but it does a great job running 6011 rods in the "6010" port. I have had no problem running 5/32" rods with this machine. It actually runs so hot I think that I could run 3/16" rods with no problem, although I haven't tried that yet. As smooth as this machine is, I have moved away from my mig welder a bit. Basically for anything thicker than 1/4", I now stick weld it. Do not be afraid of this chinese machine, it is well built and... 5/5 Mark A Decamps - See all my reviews This review is from: 2014 EVERLAST PowerARC 200ST 200amp TIG Stick IGBT Welder 110/220 Dual Voltage (Tools & Home Improvement) I unloaded an old Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC welder for this. I had the 2014 version and it was great, but this one is even better. The high frequency arc start on this machine is far better, the foot pedal is better, and the AC frequency works like a charm. The torch that comes with the machine is pretty nice as well. It even has a flexible head for better maneuverability. The DINSE style connectors also make it easy up upgrade your torch. AHP has awesome customer service. The easy strike tip does help you not stick to the work piece but only slightly and it only works for a few tries. After that it is just another cheap 1/16" rod. I'm not an experienced welder or anything but I would have to say that for the price of $8.22 for 8 ounces as compared to $9.99 for two pounds of 1/16" 6011 rods at harbor freight, these rods aren't really worth it. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 10, 2012
