Longevity Weldstick 140 DC Arc Welder

I bought this welder in July,2013. It was delivered on schedule and I used it for a few hours, worked fine. In the middle of Sept. I went to use it and the controls would not hold. The amp adjustment knob would say 70 and the read out was 50 and stayed 20 amps off when turned. I set it on 70 on the read out but it was more like 100amp finally got it to weld a smooth bead at 30 amps read out using a 3/32 7018. The second rod I had to set the control at 50 to start then stop and turn it down again.A few warnings if thinking about buying any Longevity Welder thru Amazone because they reduce the warranty from 5 yrs to one year. You pay shipping both ways which from North Carolina amounted to $120. They are not responsible if the item is lost either. The other thing is you can not register it to Longevity without asking them for a ID number because the invoice you receive from Amazone will not show up on their records. So for a 220 dollar welder used 2 times I will have to either fix... 1/5 Amazon Customer - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) It works but... how do I adjust it?

So between ChuckE2009 and weldingTipsAndTricks on youtube, I've managed to finagle my way into the world of welding. I received this welder for Christmas thinking it would be exactly what I'm looking for but after more research there are a couple things about this welder to note:1) Cables (ground, electrode clamp) are not removable/replaceable/extendable. This doesn't seem like a big deal to me now as I've only tackled two small projects and practiced a ton but I can see how this might be an issue in the near future if I plan some bigger projects.2) No amperage indicator or adjustment. This is already a big deal. Without having adjustable amperage, it's hard to determine if the box is running too hot or too cold. The experienced welder can probably tell by looking at the welds but to a beginner, it's impossible to know without being able to change the amperage to experiment and find out. Those things being said, there are plenty of positives about... 3/5 r3t1awr3yd - See all my reviews This review is from: Century AC-120 Stick Welder, 50-90 amp Output, 120V Input (Misc.) I never held a welder so I do not know the difference but I will say this welder is very easy to use

3/5 Michael - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Century AC-120 Stick Welder, 50-90 amp Output, 120V Input (Misc.) My 3 start rating may change later once I get the hang of working with this welder. I plan on doing small jobs around the house and will give it another rate at a later date. Unit arrived early and in goiod shape. The sticks it came with does splatter a lot as mentioned in prevous ratings. I never held a welder so I do not know the difference but I will say this welder is very easy to use. I am watching a lot of videos for tips on youtube. So far I did weld two pieces together after going through 6 or so sticks. Stay tuned... Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 14, 2014

the weld quality is good and good penetration

This review is from: SUNGOLDPOWER Digital Display LCD IGBT ARC Welding Machine DC Inverter Welder MMA ARC ZX7 200 AMP Rod Stick 200A Dual 110V And 220V (Misc.) First this welder has no company name no help number nothing but thanks to amazon it is fully under warranty of 1 year . this product will give 100 amp output at 120 volts and 160 amps output at 220 volts . the weld quality is good and good penetration . I used lincoln e6011 3.2 mm welding rods and it worked fine :) at 120 volts . this welder can last for 10 years plus just you have to keep it safe from dust and moisture . just clean the welder by blowing air with a vacuum every once a month that will prevent dust and moisture to create resistance between components . Components used are of good quality which includes rectifier and electrolytic capacitors . there is no welding leads provided in this welder but i used welding leads from other welder i had . apparently not a bad welding quality for under 200$ welder, February 19, 2016

Great welder, amp readings took a bit to get used to.

I unloaded an old Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC welder for this. I was glad to see the boat anchor go. This machine is so much lighter, strikes an arc easier, and has a smoother arc. I have welded with 6011, 7014, and 7018 rods so far. The display seems a little "hot" for the amperages I am used to, however the company says this is normal for an inverter with adaptive arc force. For example, I am running 1/8" 7018 rods at about 85-90 amps, whereas I used to run them at about 120 on my old machine. I haven't tried 6010 rods yet, but it does a great job running 6011 rods in the "6010" port. I have had no problem running 5/32" rods with this machine. It actually runs so hot I think that I could run 3/16" rods with no problem, although I haven't tried that yet. As smooth as this machine is, I have moved away from my mig welder a bit. Basically for anything thicker than 1/4", I now stick weld it. Do not be afraid of this chinese machine, it is well built and... 5/5 Mark A Decamps - See all my reviews This review is from: 2015 EVERLAST PowerARC 200ST 200amp TIG Stick IGBT Welder 110/220 Dual Voltage (Tools & Home Improvement) I unloaded an old Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC welder for this. One word - smooth

This review could be summed up with one word - smooth. I only weld as a hobby, and I have only ever used an old Miller Thunderbolt AC and an even older Lincoln red tombstone, but this Everlast welder is a totally different experience. Striking an arc is smooth, even at very low amps. Running a bead is smooth and quiet. My very old Lincoln AC welder lets you know it is "on" and it lets you know when you are welding. The Everlast welder is so quiet, especially while welding. One thing I will mention is the fan is loud, for a fan. Though the decibel level with the "loud" fan is still much less than my Lincoln tombstone (some call "buzzbox")(both the everlast and Lincoln are quieter than the old Miller I use).Pros:-Price/value-Smooth welding (especially at this price range)-Quiet, especially while welding. (fan is kind of loud, but not as obtrusive as the buzzing and zapping sound my Lincoln makes.)-Simple/clear controls. (the... 5/5 Robert G.
